Why Paraplegic Parenting?
XDuring my pregnancy I was a little scared. Well, actually I was horrified! My number one goal growing up was to stay FAR away from children. Fortunatley, GOD had other plans. Why was I scared? I am a paraplegic who never wanted kids nor liked kids. Also, I had never known any person with a disability who had physically given birth to a child. Once I became pregnant I began scouring the internet for resources. My search sent me in a big circle to nowhere. I did, however, come across a very courageous woman by the name of Michelle who was a quadriplegic and gave birth to a baby. I watched her video numerous times on You Tube but never could find the answers I was looking for. I reached out to friends and family for ideas and any resources they may have. With lots of prayer and support we made it through but, I never did find many resources for pregnant women with disablilities. My goal now is to share my experiences and my resources to others and help them along the wonderful journey of parenthood, with a disability.
